Across five gatherings, the cadence of Microstories allows participants to move between the seminar and the lives they are investigating. Family photographs, heirlooms, oral history interviews, and sonic histories become ways into home and family as archives, inflected by the histories of nations and regions and by legacies extending across continents.
We will work through the themes our gathered materials elicit: migration and memory, absence and erasure, displacement and resistance, laughter and joy, and war. In the end, each writer will create five microstories, approaching the work not solely as a method of recovery, but as a process of (re)discovering.

Registration closes: 11:59 pm ET, 20 November, or when the seminar fills.
Standard tuition is $350. Early tuition is $295 through 8 November.
Limited full and partial fellowships are available by application and awarded on a rolling basis while funds remain. The estimated time to complete a fellowship application is 10 minutes.
Partial fellowship tuition is $175. Full fellowship recipients pay no tuition. Approved applicants will receive registration instructions.
This seminar may be eligible for two (2) graduate-level extension credits through the University of San Diego. Fellowships do not cover books, materials, or graduate-level extension credit. Participants seeking credit must register separately with the university and pay its $79-per-credit tuition directly to the university.
