PROSE LAB

Coaching Through Writing

One-to-one support.

Prose Lab is a guided coaching space that uses writing as a site of inquiry, decision-making, and action. Sessions help writers hear their language, sharpen ideas, strengthen prose, and build practices they can return to after the session ends. The work is shaped by each writer’s questions, materials, and context, whether they are developing a project, preparing an application, pursuing publication, navigating a work challenge, or trying to move with more clarity and purpose.

The Lab draws on narrative inquiry. Participants often arrive with experiences they have been taught to understand as private difficulty, personal failure, or confusion about direction. Through writing, dialogue, goal-setting, and practical exercises, those experiences are re-examined in relation to the relationships, institutions, and social conditions that shape them.

Approach

Each session is oriented toward movement: clearer thinking, stronger decisions, concrete next steps, meaningful progress toward goals, and more deliberate practices for work, school, and life.

Writing, Experience, and Decision-Making

Prose Lab sessions often begin with writing, but extend into questions about work, relationships, and direction. Many participants arrive with experiences framed as personal difficulties. Through writing and dialogue, those experiences are re-examined in relation to broader social and institutional conditions.

This process supports clearer thinking, stronger decisions, and more deliberate movement through work and life.
